Capture everything.
Organize nothing.
Coeus is a personal AI agent for your knowledge base. Write, or tell the agent what to capture. Find anything by asking. Everything stored as plain Markdown files on your machine.
macOS, Linux, and Windows.
The problem
You know the feeling.
You start with a good system. Folders. Tags. Templates for every note type. It works for a week.
Then you’re in the middle of something and you need to write something down fast and you can’t remember which folder it goes in. So you skip the system. The note lands somewhere vague. Then you do it again.
Six months later you have 400 notes you don’t trust and a system you’ve stopped using.
The problem isn’t discipline. It’s that structure has overhead, and overhead adds up, and eventually the system costs more than it gives you.
The solution
Write it down. Your AI will find it.
Coeus is an AI agent that replaced my note app entirely. You write directly, or you tell the agent what to capture. Daily notes, research, meeting notes, half-formed ideas. No folders required. No template to fill out.
When you need something, you ask. “What did I write about X?” “What’s overdue?” “What have I been working on this week?” Coeus searches your notes and answers from what you actually captured. From your own words.
The organizing happens on retrieval, not on capture. That’s the difference.
Features
Everything in one place. Nothing locked up.
-
Ask your notes anything
Find what you captured by asking, not by searching for the right keyword.
-
Bring your own AI
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, a local model, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
-
Your files are just files
Notes stay as plain Markdown on your machine. No database, no proprietary format.
-
Research capture built in
Paste a URL, a YouTube link, or a PDF. Coeus pulls the content and makes it a note.
Who it’s for
Built for people who think faster than they can organize.
If you’ve tried every note app and walked away frustrated, Coeus might be the thing you’ve been looking for. Here’s who it works well for.
ADHD & neurodivergent
Your brain doesn’t file things in folders. Coeus doesn’t ask it to.
No template to fill out. No folder to pick. No tag to remember. Just write.
Students
Every class, every reading, every idea. In one place you can actually search.
Lecture notes, PDFs, YouTube lectures. Ask what you need instead of hunting for it.
Productivity hunters
The system you’ve been building is the problem.
One tool. No setup weekend. Works with the AI you already pay for.
Researchers
Your literature, your notes, your words. All searchable from one place.
Drop a PDF, a DOI link, a YouTube talk. Ask questions across everything you’ve collected.
How it works
Three steps, then you’re writing.
-
1
Point it at a folder
Create a new folder or use one you already have. Coeus indexes everything and watches for changes. If you’re coming from Obsidian or Logseq, your existing notes import directly.
-
2
Write without thinking about where things go
Write directly or tell the agent to capture something. Daily notes, research, meeting notes, half-formed ideas. Coeus keeps track so you don’t have to.
-
3
Ask your AI anything about what you’ve captured
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or a local model. Ask questions. Get answers from your actual notes, not a blank chat window. Several supported agents have a free tier, so you don’t need a paid subscription to get started.
If every note system has eventually let you down, this is what I built to fix it.
Coeus is in beta, free to download. Drop your email and I’ll send updates worth reading.
No spam. Updates when there’s something worth saying.
