Download Coeus
Free during the beta. Your notes stay on your machine, always.
What you need
- macOS 12 Monterey or later
- An AI provider API key (Claude, OpenAI, etc.) or a local model
- A folder for your notes (new or existing)
-
1
Open the .dmg and drag Coeus to Applications
Launch it normally from Applications. If macOS ever warns about an older build, download the latest DMG again.
-
2
Point it at a folder
Pick an existing folder or create a new one. If you’re coming from Obsidian or Logseq, use your existing vault.
-
3
Connect an AI
Add a Claude or OpenAI API key in settings, or point Coeus at a local model like Ollama or LM Studio. Then start writing.
Use the Flatpak if your distro supports it. The .deb and .rpm add the package repo when you install them, so updates come through apt upgrade or dnf upgrade after that.
